Don Quixote advises a Barcelona Printer on Book Publishing

Too prescient and funny not to share!

Miguel de Cervantes published Part 1 of The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha in 1605. By the time Part 2 came out ten years later, the author — and his subject — had evidently been through the literary mill, from fame to exploitation to plagiarism. Cervantes’ sardonic comments about Don Quixote’s fame preceding him to Barcelona (said to be the only real city featured in his adventures) are a hoot. In this scene, the knight-errant visits a printing press for the first time. (Drawing by Pablo Picasso)
